Sphalerite is also known as blende or zincblende or wurzite. Often dark brown to black in colour but can be found in transparent yellow brown, green red and orange. Found in the USA, Mexico and Santander in Spain. It's a very soft stone and not suitable for use in jewellery though gorgeous collectors stones can be cut, exhibiting a fantastic fire and high lustre.

Sphalerite is the stone of Integrity. Sphalerite gets its name from the Greek word for deceitful and is said to help us recognise those who are. It affects the nervous system and the eyes.
